Swettenham Chemists recently welcomed Alison McGovern, MP for Wirral South, back to our Bromborough branch. Dawn Swettenham, Superintendent Pharmacist discussed with Alison the challenges facing Community Pharmacies which include funding for pharmacy and workforce shortages.
We explored the fact that pharmacists welcome the ability to prescribe for minor ailments which will benefit patients but we have grave concerns for the increasing pressure being placed on community pharmacy teams due to the lack of government support. We welcome a closer working relationship and better integration with GPs and the primary care teams. Following Alison's visit Dawn is being invited by Alison to attend a future meeting with local NHS stakeholders to discuss these issues further. Thank you Alison for taking the time out of your busy schedule.
